Centre-fugu public art project  — April 29, 2015

Centre-fugu public art project

This was a public art project done by pebbles Russell and Jonathan Neville . They envisioned an experimental canvas many people in the city never even seen a live trailer let alone in the middle of a busy city street. An interesting take on artistic sculptures. It’s interesting to see a country object in such an urban area and all the extreme colors that make it pop and let’s it fit right in with themes York city vibe.

These are some designs that have been put on this cool retro city trailer:)

Bowery Grafitti Wall  —

Bowery Grafitti Wall

Since 1982 when Kieth Herring first made these walls art it’s been a great tourist destination.  This wall shows such a city likefeeing that I as a New Yotker canreallyrelate to. The Popeye painting beautiful added throughout the years isn’t far my favorite piee who could forget Popeye the sailor man who gets green spinach an beats up dumb guys and gets his lady. He was often depicted In aCity style life and he is representative of a New Yorker truly is a rude violent but lovable people 🙂 . Here’s some pics of the historic monument:

These are shots taken from different angles. But this graffiti wall is truly a marvel 🙂

Eleven Rivington  —

Eleven Rivington

Located in the lobby of one of Soho’s many hotels this unquie art exhibit including such famous artist as Volker Hueller and Jacob kassay. This museum has shown me the beauty that can lay within a small corner store front. When walking into this exhibit you notice many different kind of atmosphere more of a frightening almost vibe as it can be very desolate in the white spaces especially with exhibits such as Jacob Kassay mirror like Abstraction. Here’s some examples:

The blurred mirrors make the space almost scary but in a exploring kind of way like what lays beyond the next corner and the exhibit makes you see your self through different angles but never a clear mirror. I believe this is a statement on maybe we don’t know all the sides to someone even ourselves. But be sure to check out the museum and its many wonderful upcoming exhibits.

Canada —

Canada

This is a kinda of retro art museum starting up way back in 2000 this art gallery gives the real funky old school kind of 70s vibe. You think of trippy things and the images and color patterns take you on a visual journey. The exhibit has included such artists as Xylor Jane , Matt Conor and many more fabulous artist . Many other artist have been in the walls of this lower east side china town gallery. It’s a fun trip with many great exhibits tocheck out. As you can see by the Xaylor Jane piece that this museum kind of keeps with the retro as ethic idea of playing with shapes and colors to allow the painting to pop.

Free Summer Time movies — April 15, 2015

Free Summer Time movies

Althoughoutdoor movie night its kind of far off one of the coolest things about NYC is the free summer movies…  Starting in late may in tom the summer they play free movies at different locations throughout NYC this year they are going to start it in Solar One, NYC on May 21st and the featured presentation will be Cold in July.  Throughout the years these venues have changed constantly but they are always in fun locations In 2012 I saw a screening of Scott Pilgrim vs. the world.  It was a fun experience to watch a movie on the Chelsea pier near 23st.  You can find the schedule on Thrillist.com and follow them on face book for summer schedule.   These open screenings give the feel of a drive in movie but in a city setting where instead of a car you take a train to this venue.  There were screenings even on the intrepid which is a ship that sails along the Chelsea harbor.
